Delta Chi prides itself on its year-round commitment to philanthropy and service. Our brothers’ enthusiasm for philanthropy and service is consistently demonstrated in many ways – fielding our own Dance Marathon team, walking together as a team at Relay For Life, attending and participating in other Greek and non-Greek organizations’ philanthropies, and organizing our own philanthropy (Delta Chi Movers) and our own service event (Delta Chi Day of Service). If you are interested in learning more about our Philanthropy and Service opportunities, please contact our Philanthropy chairs (Andrew Duarte, email@example.com and Brian Margolis, firstname.lastname@example.org) and our Service chair (Charlie Stark, email@example.com). Although we are proud of our work with other Northwestern philanthropies, we take special pride in our own event, Delta Chi Movers, which was recognized in Spring 2012 as the Outstanding Philanthropic Event of our Interfraternity Council by the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life. At the end of every spring quarter, we help move students and their belongings from their school-year residences to their summer ones, or to public storage facilities in Evanston. From logistics to public relations and customer service, this event is completely coordinated by our philanthropy chairs, and has been a resounding success on campus since its inception three years ago. With U-Haul vans, a touch of charm, and a lot of sweat, Northwestern Delta Chi raised $5,769 during June 2014 through Delta Chi Movers. All proceeds from the event go towards our national philanthropy, the Jimmy V Foundation, and we eagerly look forward to expanding this philanthropy with our dedicated and excited membership.Learn more
Every year, many Delta Chis participate in our university's most renowned philanthropy event, Northwestern's Dance Marathon. Throughout fall and winter quarter, we work closely with our paired sorority to build a team and fundraise for the chosen charity, culminating in the actual event during reading week of Winter Quarter. For 30 hours, over a thousand Northwestern students converge in a large tent behind Norris University Center to dance nonstop in what many students have described as a cornerstone experience of their time at Northwestern. From dancing to DJing on stage to helping create the DM website, Delta Chis are involved in NUDM in many different ways. During March 2017, our chapter and Delta Zeta were proud to help raise $1,253,576, and we look forward to many successful and fun DMs to come.Dance Marathon Website
Delta Chi is proud to support the American Cancer Society through Northwestern University's Relay for Life, held every May at the Henry Crown Sports Pavillion and Aqautic Center. Working in tandem with a sorority, Delta Chis walk around SPAC's upper track for 12 straight hours to symbolize the ongoing fight against cancer. During May 2016, we helped raise over $93,000 with Sigma Lambda Gamma, and we look forward to another successsful event next year. Working with both the Jimmy V Foundation and the American Cancer Society on a yearly basis, our chapter is proud of our efforts to eliminate cancer, but recognizes that much work remains to be done.Relay for Life Wesbite
